High on a hill overlooking Lake Minnetonka, the
Wayzata Library offers spectacular lake views through a wall of windows flanked by comfortable seating and study tables.
The library, part of the
Hennepin County Library system, features a colorful
Children's Room, where
Go to Your Room - a vibrant abstract painting framed by toys and everyday objects - welcomes visitors. The
Early Literacy Area has bins of picture books, puppets, puzzles, and toys, as well as child-sized tables, chairs, and lounge seating. Birth-to-Six, KidLinks, and TeenLinks web pages are available on computers, and
teens can congregate in their own "room with a view," a separate space with books, computers, and a display wall.
From May through October, visitors can walk out the door of the Children's Room to discover the wonders of the
Wayzata Library Children's Garden. There, they can cross the troll bridge, sit on a sculpted book bench, wander behind the secret garden walls, watch butterflies flutter, and pair a good book with a picnic lunch. Special garden events are offered in addition to the library's storytimes, workshops, and teen and family programming. Kids and parents can also enjoy a scenic ride on the
Wayzata Trolley, which stops at the library and runs May through October.
