Adjacent to the Pedernales River, Westcave Preserve offers natural science and other educational programs for children and adults. The site includes grasslands, meadows, a 40-foot waterfall, caves, and other scenic wonders.
The preserve's Environmental Learning Center features a solar observatory, classroom spaces, and ecology exhibits.
Admission to the learning center is free, but hikes to the canyon trail are by guided tour only. Weekdays are by appointment only for groups and school children; weekend tours are at set times.

getting there:
From Austin: Travel west on Highway 71 to Bee Caves. Turn left at Ranch Road 3238 (aka Hamilton Pool Road). Travel about 14.5 miles on Hamilton Pool Road to the Pedernales River. Westcave Preserve is the first gate on your right after crossing the river.
