If hearing the phrase, "bend like a pretzel," makes your kid head for the kitchen rather than gymnastics class, Western Reserve School of Cooking might be a fun spot to spend a few hours, or launch a career. Designed for ages eight through twelve, Kids in the Kitchen classes go way beyond grilled cheese 101 - students actually learn how to dish up some really good food. In addition to classes for kids, parents can opt for several sessions especially for them, from preparing a week's worth of dinners in a day (and freezing for later meals) to making easy, healthful dinners with kid- (and grown up-) appeal. All classes are limited to 10 students, and they fill up fast. Register early, and ask to be put on a waiting list if your desired date is filled - the school sometimes opens additional classes to accommodate overflow, and occasionally, a spot opens up for hopefuls. Weeklong summer camp sessions are held each June, July, and August for kids from ages eight to 18 years old. Birthday and tea parties may be arranged with management on an individual basis, and creativity reigns in the planning. (Call to discuss: 330.650.1665 or 330.656.2665)
