about Wild Mountain Cafe:

We admit it - our only experience at this cute converted house in Crown Hill has been at the breakfast hour. We know nothing of lunch or dinner, although soups are made fresh daily, and we hear the mac 'n' cheese is good. Luckily for all of us, the menu's online (click on the link, above).

We take the kids out of the house in their scruffies, early on Sunday mornings, for excellent gooey cinnamon rolls, good coffee, and serviceable standards like Eggs Benedict and the delicious The Tower of Power, two roasted garlic potato cakes topped with sautéed vegetables, roasted garlic, mushrooms, and cheese.

Service is always very friendly and quick. Large, cool-looking tins of toys, and crayons, are brought out to entertain the wee ones while we decide what to have.

If you go for breakfast, choose from a menu of kid-pleasing sides like toast, yogurt, fruit cup, and more; for lunch and dinner, check out the kids' menu (pesto pasta, mac 'n' cheese, bean and cheese burrito, chicken fingers). Be aware that tables in this small restaurant are close together, and sound carries. Arrive early if you'd prefer to have more space to yourselves; especially on weekends, Wild Mountain Cafe is popular.

getting there:

Located just east of the intersection of 15th Avenue NW and NW 85th Street, on the north side of the street. Look for a purple-painted house. Street parking is usually easy.
