A hilly, grassy park, located on the east side of the 90.9-acre complex that includes the Woodland Park Zoo. This is a nice place to wander through unmown grass on a warm spring day.
Amenities include soccer and softball fields (located along Greenlake Way N at the eastern edge of the park), tennis courts, paths for strolling, picnic tables and shelters, and an off-leash area for dogs. Call to reserve picnic shelters or tennis courts.
tips:
Be vewwy, vewwy quiet! If you enter the south parking lot and follow the driveway to the spot where it begins to curve back around, you'll see a rockery surrounded by a clearing just north of the driveway. Hop down the slope and stay still to catch a glimpse of the wild bunnies that live in the rocks.
getting there:
From I-5 (north- and southbound): Take the NE 50th Street exit (#169). Follow NE 50th Street westbound past the Stone Way Avenue N intersection. The park's south parking lot is on the right, west of the tennis courts. To enter at the east parking lot (and to access the off-leash area), turn right onto Stone Way instead of going straight at the NE 50th Street intersection. At the "v" in the road (intersection of W Greenlake Way and E Greenlake Way), bear to the left onto W Greenlake Way. The parking lot entrance is on the left about 1/2 block after you turn onto W Greenlake Way, across the street from a Green Lake parking lot.
