about Woodland Park Rose Garden:

Looking for a brilliant background for your kids' pictures? From May through August, this rose garden, adjacent to the Woodland Park Zoo, is positively gaudy with the blooms from hundreds of rose bushes. Kids like to sit in the gazebo, look for goldfish in the whitewashed stone pool, goggle at the huge yew topiaries, and search for the "smelly" roses. This formal garden is an oasis of quiet in the city, and worth a visit.

tips:

This is a good place to wait if you arrive before the zoo opens at 9:30am.

getting there:

From I-5 (north- and southbound): Take the NE 50th Sreet exit, #169. Travel westbound on NE 50th Street about 1 1/3 miles to Fremont Avenue N. Turn right into the Woodland Park Zoo's parking lot. The Rose Garden is on the right. Public transportation: Served by Metro bus routes 5, 44, and 82.
