The Woodson Regional Library contains 72,000 square feet of public service areas on two floors, with a staff of approximately 60.
Public service departments include the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection of Afro-American History and Literature, the largest collection of its kind in the Midwest; a full-service Children's Library and parenting center; the Social Sciences Department, the Humanities Department, the Science and Technology Department, the Serials Department, and the Media Center. A new wing was added in 1998 to expand the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection.
The library building includes an auditorium and three conference rooms.
