The Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts was established to provide a place within the Eatonville community where the public could view the work of artists of African descent, as well as those who are still living on the continent. "The Hurston," as it's known, honors Zora Neale Hurston (1891-1960), who is considered to be the most significant collector and interpreter of Southern African American culture, in addition to being a celebrated writer, folklorist, and anthropologist. There is no set admission to the museum, although a donation is expected with entry. Group tours are available; reservations are required.
