Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China's First Emperor includes a sample of the Eighth Wonder of the Ancient World: 20 of the life-like, life-size clay warriors created as protectors of the tomb of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in the third century BC. The exhibit also features more than 100 other artifacts from the emperor's vast necropolis, including a suit of armor, pendants, and ritual objects. Bearing Witness: A Community Remembers


Authentic film footage, artifacts, photographs, and documents show life in pre-war Europe, during the Nazi movement, and after the Holocaust. The exhibit includes a very rare and poignant collection of children's shoes recovered from a concentration camp in Poland, and an authentic World War II rail car of the type used to transport people to the concentration camps.

Cockrell Butterfly Center & Hall of Entomology


The butterfly exhibit is a three-story glass structure that showcases hundreds of live butterflies in a naturalistic rainforest setting, where butterflies flutter among - and occasionally land on - visitors strolling the paths or relaxing on benches. The Brown Hall of Entomology contains several live insects from around the world, as well as interactive displays. A children's room provides a nice quiet spot for parents to sit and for kids to use their imaginations - on hand are books, puzzles, games, tables and chairs, soft benches, insect puppets, and a giant beehive for kids to crawl through and clamber upon.
