USA Hip-Hop Dance Championship Finals


Urban street dancing comes to Lake Las Vegas with a competition for the championship title among crews from across the United States and 30 more nations, all of whom serve up old-school and new-school moves in two-minute performances in the hopes of capturing the World Hip Hop Dance Championship title. The event also includes panel discussions, the Urban Moves dance workshops, Saturday's Hip Hop World Battles, and Sunday evening's Championship Finals. Visit the website for complete information.

Dance in the Desert Festival


Dancers from Las Vegas and well beyond gather for showcases that range from modern and post-modern dance to experiments with classical ballet technique. Planetarium: Pieces of Glass


Pieces of Glass traces the history of the telescope from Galileo's modifications to a child's spyglass and to the launch of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope and the future of astronomy. It explores the wonder and discovery made by astronomers through out the last 400 years. The program is followed by Stargazing, which allows the audience to hop through constellations, learn cool star names, groove to planetarium space music, and participate in a Q-&-A session with staff memebers.

Clark County Centennial 2009


Clark County marks its 100th birthday throughout 2009 with a year-long series of events, programs, publications, and the centerpiece exhibit Clark County 1909 to 2009: A Destination's Century, which explores the way in which the county has been not only a destination for gaming enterprises but also for ranchers, miners, entertainers, construction builders, and more. Many events are scheduled to take place at the Clark County Museum, but other locales take part in the festivities too. Check the website for the year's schedule.
