Marco Casentini: Have a Nice Day

Yoko Ono's Wish Trees
Yoko Ono presents a major exhibition in the central courtyard, Wish Trees, consisting of a number of living trees identified with the environment or history of Southern California. Visitors are invited to write wishes on pieces of paper and hang them on the tree branches. Pasadena's wishes are to join wishes from all over the world and buried in capsules surrounding Ono's public art project in memory of John Lennon, the Imagine Peace Tower on Videy Island, off the coast of Iceland.

Halloween Harvest Festival

LA County Fair
The LA County Fair is in its 86th year. As usual, fairgoers can climb on firetrucks, watch chickens hatch, bungee jump, ride ponies, see horses and pigs race, taste prize-winning baked goods, create spin art, try new household products, pet kangaroos and ostriches, ride elephants, listen to live music, and mingle with hogs, heifers, and hares. All this is in addition to over 70 exciting rides and attractions in the largest carnival collection in North America. There are plenty of promotions for families - like $1 admission on the first day (Sept. 5) and free admission for kids on Fridays; be sure to check online for special deals on tickets before heading out.

Redondo Lobster Festival
The 13th annual Redondo Beach Lobster Festival features Maine lobsters flown in fresh daily to Redondo's Seaside Lagoon and prepared by chefs from Bristol Farms. Other highlights includes arts and crafts booths, live entertainment, a treasure hunt, and rides and games for the kids. Lobster dinners cost $20 to $40.
