Child's Play


Child's Play is an interactive exhibit which allows families to take a trip back into the 1800s with interactive displays just for kids. Kids can try on costumes and pretend to pose for a portrait, play with 19th-century games and toys, look at optical illusions, sketch curiosities, and entertain themselves with old-fashioned tongue twisters.

Kids can hit the books this summer by taking part in Borders Kids' Summer Reading Challenge. Children pick up Challenge Forms at participating Borders locations, read eight books, list them on the form, and return the form to Borders in exchange for a coupon for one $4.99 Reading Challenge item. Several area bowling halls, including YankeeLanes Portland, offer kids two free games every day throughout the summer, redeemable by email coupons. Parents can sign their children up through the website and receive coupons for each child every week. A Family Pass is also available for $23.95 and allows up to four adults to go bowling with the kids. Some restrictions do apply.
