Due to the island's isolation, most of Madagascar's plants and animals exist only there, but these creatures are quickly becoming threatened with extinction due to habitat destruction and hunting. Some of the island's unique animals - including tenrecs, hissing cockroaches, radiated tortoises, tree boas, and fossa - are set up in temporary digs at Hogle Zoo to help educate the public about this ecologically valuable island oasis.
