Stingrays at Caribbean Cove


Zoo visitors can take in some rays this summer with the cool Stingrays at Caribbean Cove exhibit, which features the unique sea creatures in a warm saltwater pool, into which guests can dip hands for gentle touching and even feed them at specific times each day. The stars of the show are 28 cownose rays and four southern stingrays, species that are hardy and interact well with people. Zoo interpreters and educators are on hand to help visitors and to share information about stingrays, sustainable seafood, and ocean conservation.

MOBOT Floral Clock


MOBOT is 150 years old in 2009, and to help celebrate, gardeners have created a 20-foot-diameter working clock, created entirely of plant material. Kids get a kick out of the little cuckoo bird that pops from his home every quarter-hour. The ticking exhibit can be seen near the historic reflecting pools adjacent to the Climatron dome.

A T. Rex Named Sue


A T. Rex Named Sue, an exhibition showcasing the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex specimen ever discovered, returns to the Science Center and features the Dino Dig and craft areas and interactive machines and pods that illustrate how Sue saw, smelled, ate, and moved. New features of the exhibit include a 3D artist's rendering of what scientists believe Sue's head looked like, T. rex fossils, real paleontological tools and fossils of Upper Cretaceous creatures, and hands-on exploration of a 300-lb. meteorite, similar to the meteor scientists suspect may have killed the dinosaurs.
