Founded in 1991 as a community outreach program for Escuela del Sol Montessori, Harwood has become an invaluable asset for the Albuquerque community. The goal of the Center is to provide a space for all community members to learn, grow, and share through art.

Harwood programs offer a wide variety of opportunities for kids and adults to access the visual arts, written arts, performing arts, music, and dance.

The National Atomic Museum is a Congressionally chartered museum featuring several permanent exhibits that trace the history of nuclear science and atomic energy. Exhibits include photographs, displays and models on Madame Curie and Einstein, The Manhattan Project, WWII, and more.

The ZOOMzone may well be the most interesting part of the Museum for families. Children have the opportunity to explore science through a variety of hands-on activities and science challenges. Young scientists can even share their discoveries via the Internet on ZOOM computers.

Science is Everywhere summer camps are offered from June through August.

The National Atomic Museum Store carries merchandise related to nuclear physics and the history of atomic energy.

Membership: A one year $50 family membership includes free admission to the Museum, the Nuclear Times newsletter, a 10% discount at the Museum Gift Store, invitation to member only events, and free admission to over 200 science museums across the country.

Parties: The ZOOMzone party package (10 children and 10 adults) includes a 2-hour private session in the ZOOMzone, a party coordinator, a directed hands-on activity, face painting or temporary tattoos, a balloon and goodie bag for each attendee, cake, punch, and Ice Cream in a Baggie. The birthday child receives a balloon bouquet, a t-shirt, a poster, and a 6-month Zoom family membership. The party fee is $200.
