The Sandia Peak Ski Area offers 30 trails, 4 chairlifts, a surface lift, and a children's Mitey Mite. Most of the ski trails at Sandia are easy to intermediate. Cross-country skiing and snowboarding are also options. A fully staffed ski school, rental shop and skiers' cafe are available.

The University of New Mexico is the only major university in Albuquerque. UNM offers a variety of programs and services to the community as well as to its students. The Pueblo-style main campus has a nationally recognized arboretum, outdoor art, and a duck pond - an ideal location for walks and picnics.

UNM is one of Albuquerque's cultural centers. Popejoy Hall's Ovation Series is packed with performances and plays, the UNM Bookstore has a good selection of Southwest literature and children's books, and the Saturday Children's Hour on KUNM is sure to keep everyone dancing.

UNM boasts several museums, including the UNM Art Museum, the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Southwestern Biology, and the Geology Museum.
