Academy Theatre stages classical and contemporary works for Atlanta audiences and hosts performing arts classes and camps through its School of Performing Arts.

Eight-week class sessions and summer drama camps are taught by professional actors, directors, and writers.

ACT Conservatory of Drama & Theatre is an acting company offering professional classes and camp experiences to children ages seven and up. Professional staff includes stage directors, choreographers, and singing coaches who are performers in their own right, as well as gifted professional instructors dedicated to building self-esteem in children while they teach the arts.

All Fired Up is a paint-your-own-pottery spot that charges only for the piece painted. There are no additional fees for using the regular studio paints, or for glazing and firing the piece. More than 700 pieces and over 70 mosaic projects are available. Most pieces are available for pick up four days after completion. If you don't finish your artwork during a visit, it can be held over as long as you pay for the piece at the end of your first visit and complete it within 30 days of purchase. Finished pieces are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.

Summer camps explore the great art masters by having campers work to mimic their styles in a variety of mediums including pottery painting, glass, clay, canvas, and mosaics. Camps are for ages seven and up, and hours are 10am-12n. Sibling discounts are available.

Housed in the Woodruff Arts Center, the Alliance Theatre offers a variety of community outreach programs and a 70-year-old children's theatre. The Alliance presents an innovative season of classic and contemporary plays performed on the 770-seat Alliance Stage and the 200-seat Hertz Stage.

The Atlanta Irish Music School hosts a week of Celtic music and dance for students ages 4 to 14 years in Alpharetta. No prior music or dance experience is needed. All students learn Irish whistle, ceili dancing, Celtic arts and crafts, participate in Gaelic Football, and concerts on Scottish bagpipes and Celtic Harp. In addition, students can choose their core class in Irish Fiddle, Irish Song or Irish Step Dance. A non-profit community theatre organization, producing theatrical productions and offering educational opportunities for children and adults within the realm of the performing arts. All performances now take place at the Dozier Centre.

Big Top traditionally holds fall, winter, and spring sessions and offers various classes for a variety of age groups from first grade to adults, as well as summer camps.

Blackwell Playhouse is a two-stage 5,000 square foot family theater, producing live theater, original works by local and new playwrights, after school programs, and summer camps.

The Booth Western Art Museum, the winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the best Museum for Big Kids in the Atlanta area, is an 80,000-square-foot museum - the second largest art museum in the state of Georgia - in downtown Cartersville, features contemporary Western American art, Civil War art, Presidential portraits and letters, Western movie posters, Western illustration, and Sagebrush Ranch - an interactive gallery where children of all ages can learn about art and Western America.

The Museum Store offers books on art and the West, as well as prints and other items featuring Western American art images; a cafe serves lunch; a multimedia 60 seat theatre shows the orientation film The American West, every 20 minutes.

The museum offers second Saturday programs for children (ages 4 to 12) and their parents on a monthly basis. Programs relate to the permanent and traveling collection, and focus on teaching children about the American West through art, literature, entertainment, and hands-on activities. Inspire a passion for science in your children at Camp Invention, a weeklong day camp offered in elementary schools across the country.

Students entering grades one through six participate in five hands-on classes every day - which are presented by local teachers - to learn the basic concepts of engineering, physics, and creative problem-solving. Kids work on projects both individually and in small groups.

Camp Jam is a summer program that brings together young musicians and teaches them band dynamics, secrets of the trade, performance skills, and rock history, and provides them with the opportunity to interact with industry professionals.

Camp Jam Rock 'n' Roll Summer Day Camp, for kids ages 11 to 17, provides a place for teens to convene with other aspiring musicians, bands, and vocalists. Participants can hone their musical chops by learning from - and performing with - professional musicians with experience in the music industry, in an environment that promotes skills such as teamwork and communication. The five-day camp offers instruction in guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and vocal performance, as well as a songwriting clinic, an open mic showcase, a class on performance skills, and a course in audio engineering and production.

Camp Jam Kidz is for pint-sized rockers ages seven to 10. This unique program offers a fun, interactive musical experience for younger kids, giving them the chance to play the instrument of their choice under the watchful eyes of the camp counselors. Camp Jam Kidz offers an experience that's similar to that of older campers, but with a more hands-on focus from instructors. Participants play their very first gig at the end of the week, performing on stage with a real rock band.

In a restored 1930s bungalow in downtown Decatur, Color Wheel provides an enriching alternative to after-school care with a full range of educational and cultural arts experience including painting, drawing, sculpture, poetry, music, dance, and drama. Art supplies, homework time and assistance, and snacks are included.

Full-day programs are offered on school holidays, and summer day camps are also available.

Cobb County's Curtain Call Youth Players, a non-profit children's theater organization, was formed as a repertory group of young people dedicated to learning and performing live theater for family audiences. Curtain Call supports two groups of students. The first, The Players, is open by registration to students in 5th-12th grade who have an interest in learning about theater skills and production techniques. The second, The Troupe, is an audition-based high school group focused on developing displayed talent.

During the school year CCYP produces four major productions at The Art Place in Marietta. During the summer, CCYP also provides summer camps for children in 3rd-12th grade, as well as workshops offered on various theater skills.

All camps are directed by a theater professional and an assistant, and are limited to 20 students. Everyone is encouraged to have fun, use their creativity, and gain confidence and stage presence.
