The Boy Scouts is an institution that has honed to the same mission for decades: To promote physical fitness, citizenship, and good old-fashioned character building.

Boys in first through fifth grade are eligible for Cub Scouts. From sixth through twelfth grade your son can become a Boy Scout. Many boys join a troop through either their school or church. But you can also call the Denver Council to find out where there's a unit closest to you. You'll be given the name and number of the pack leader and can call to make arrangements for meeting.

Each pack meets as often as the parents want them to and frequency can range from one to four times a month.

The center includes a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, dance studio, meeting space, and more.

For almost 100 years, Girl Scouts has been dedicated solely to helping every girl, everywhere be the best they can be. Girl Scouts - Mile Hi Council is the 13th largest of more than 300 Girl Scout councils in the country, helping girls in a 14 county region grow strong while discovering the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Over 36,000 girls benefit in the area.

The council provides an innovative, contemporary program designed to help all girls achieve their full potential, relate better to others, develop values to guide them throughout their lives and contribute to the improvement of society.

More than 2.7 million girls participate in the Girl Scout program consisting of five levels:

Daisy - ages 5-6 (kindergarten or grade 1)
Brownie - ages 6-8 (or grades 1-3)
Junior - ages 8-11 (or grades 3-6)
Cadette - ages 11-14 (or grades 6-9)
Senior - ages 14-17 (or grades 9-12)

Many schools have troops already in formation, so you might check there first before calling the council. If all else fails, consider starting your own troop - the council will set you on your way with training courses. Each troop meets as often as the parents want them to and frequency can range from one to four times a month.

Facilities at Littleton include a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, racquetball and squash courts, fitness center, and a youth center.

Programs include before- and afterschool care, youth sports, swimming lessons, Holiday and Summer Day Camps, and Youth and Teen Programs and Clubs.

The YMCA is a membership organization although many classes are available to nonmembers at an additional charge. Membership includes access to all YMCA of Metropolitan Denver facilities.
