In addition to direct instruction in language arts, students also participate in thematic studies, which focus on some aspect life in New York City. Off-site education experiences ensure the application of skills outside of the classroom. Off-site education experiences may include participating in Central Park's Natural Classroom series, going fishing and canoeing at Alley Pond Park, and visiting Sony Wonder or the Tenement Museum. Each afternoon, students engage in community-based inclusion, which includes sports, swimming, and arts and crafts at a local recreation center. |
