Delaware County Community College (DCCC) provides Saturday morning and afternoon programs for kids and teens ages five to 15. A few subjects offered include Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Cartooning, Computer Game Design, Meteorology, Safari Club, Photography, and Robotics. Karate, academic enrichment, and foreign language instruction are also available.

Four-week sessions begin in the fall and spring and generally cost under $125. Children enrolled at sponsoring public school districts can participate in programs at a discount of around $30. See the Programs for Kids and Teens schedule online for a complete list of sponsoring districts.

Parents are responsible for accompanying their children to and from the classroom at DCCC, but should not plan to stay for class.

The Main Line YMCA offers a heated indoor pool and a variety of classes for adults and and children, including Swimming for babies as young as six months (with a parent), Karate for children and adults, progressive and competitive Gymnastics for kids ages three to 18, and Tap Dance for ages five to nine. Youth Pilates, Baby Yoga, and Youth Yoga classes are available for a modest fee.

Free Movers and Shakers fitness classes for children ages eight to 12 are included with each family membership. Teen memberships, available for $31.50 per month, do not require a joining fee.

The Main Line YMCA also offers Summer Day Camp for children ages three through 16. The program includes plenty of fun-filled activities, including sports, gymnastics, field trips, and swimming lessons. Most camps for children ages five and up are held at a local private school, surrounded by beautiful wooded scenery.

The Maternal Wellness Center (MWC) is a non-profit organization that offers classes, support groups, services, and workshops for pregnant women, new moms, and families.

MWC's numerous programs include counseling, psychotherapy, couples therapy, mothers' groups, childbirth education, breastfeeding support, and more. Classes include prenatal, postpartum, and Baby & Me yoga, infant massage and CPR, Sign with Me, and others. The Center also offers massage therapy, with a special table for pregnant women and therapists that specialize in massages for new moms and moms-to-be.

The Center's Healthy Moms Initiative - available free to women in need of financial assistance - includes massage, acupuncture, counseling, yoga, birth classes, and infant classes.

MWC also operates a retail store that stocks socially- and environmentally-conscious products, as well as items handmade by local moms. Its inventory includes organic cotton baby bedding, blankets, bibs, clothing, gifts, books, and numerous other pregnancy, nursing, and baby products. There's also a nice space in the Center to just sit and hang out with your kids - even if there's no formal activity scheduled.

All proceeds generated from MWC's services and retail sales are put backproducts into funding its programs.

While the Learning Tree offers classes primarily for adults, there is a selection of classes for children and teens. Some kid's programs include dance classes, craft clubs, SAT-preparation, and yoga.

One Fit Mama, a fitness company centered around mothers and their babies, provides opportunities for moms to exercise with their babies while interacting and networking with other moms.

One Fit Mama, offers cardiovascular and strength training workouts for all fitness levels. Classes include Stroller Fitness, Prenatal Yoga, Mom and Baby Yoga, Infant and Child CPR Training, social events, and informational seminars with area experts on post-natal and child-related issues. Classes and events are held at various venues throughout the Delaware Valley, reaching moms in Montgomery, Philadelphia, Bucks, and Delaware Counties.

One Fit Mama was launched in 2005 by a mom - a certified Athletic Trainer with degrees in Sports Medicine and Sports Management - who found it difficult to resume a normal exercise routine after the birth of her first child. Using her extensive background in health and fitness, she created exercise routines to perform with her baby, and incorporated the techniques into the One Fit Mama program.

Classes can be purchased individually or in sets of six or 10 at the One Fit Mama website. (The first class is free!) One-, three-, and 12-month memberships, with unlimited classes, are also available online. Dads are welcome to work out with One Fit Mama for free on the weekends!

Seedlings, an Aveda salon for children and young adults (as well as moms and dads), offers haircuts, styling, and a variety of other grooming services for in a friendly, fun environment, decorated in an elaborate tropical rain forest theme.

The salon also hosts kids' salon parties for birthdays and other occasions, and kids yoga classes and parties. Teeny Yogini is a theme-based program designed to inspire and empower youth through the art of yoga. Teeny Yogini travels throughout the Philadelphia region, providing quality instruction - and lots of fun - at schools, daycare facilities, day camps, and other group environments.

The Neighborhood Arts Center (NAC) offers a variety of performing arts classes including dance (ballet, modern, and hip hop), drama, and guitar. Instruction in yoga and martial arts is also available.

The Hanover Street Theatre, located inside the NAC, serves a venue for a wide range of performances.

The Waterview Recreation Center is a Germantown institution. Waterview's outdoor facilities include two baseball diamonds, two outdoor basketball courts, and two playgrounds with swings, slides, and climbing equipment.

The most unique feature at Waterview is a "sprayground" that features brightly colored coiled pipes and nozzles (in various fun shapes like palm trees) that spritz water on the kids during hot summer days. While most facilities at Waterview are open to children of all ages, the sprayground is reserved for kids ages six to 12. The sprayground is only open during the summer months; call Waterview for a schedule.

Waterview Recreation Center's indoor facilities include a basketball gym, a boxing gym, an exercise gym, a TV room, an auditorium, two and two meeting rooms.

A kids' recreation program, co-produced by Waterview and Moving Arts of Mt. Airy (MaMa), offers a variety of free or reasonably-priced classes, including gymfoolery, double-dutch, drama, karate, and creative dance. Teens can participate in slow (roller) skate dance, hip hop, gospel line

Youth Movement Fitness gets children of all ages, sizes, and types moving towards a healthy lifestyle. The state-of-the-art facility offers a wide variety of fitness classes, including movement and dance classes, circuit training, and sports drills. Class enrollment forms and physical assessment forms are available online.
