A pediatrician at the Roseville Medical Center, Hooten obtained an MD from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1982 and completed her pediatric internship and residency at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia in 1985. Hooten joined Kaiser Permanente in 1990 and is certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
