Clayton Productions is a private entertainment school for everyone from young children through young adults. Instruction focuses on song, dance (ballet, jazz, etc.), voice, showmanship, and performance. Students in the advanced classes are selected through an audition process, but the entry-level and intermediate classes are available by registration. A class for special needs children is offered as well.

The Columbus Center is a community center that serves South Salt Lake residents. It is in the old and beautiful Columbus School building. Besides a basketball court, auditorium, and several meeting rooms, the building also houses a senior center and the Columbus Library.

Open play basketball and billiards is available to children in 3rd through 12th grades. The schedule for open play changes throughout the year, so call for times. Parents or legal guardians must fill out liability waivers for their children to participate. Open play is free.

Other programs for children include an indoor soccer league for boys and girls ages four to 12, and a Youth City Council for children in 9th through 12th grades.

Many organizations offer classes at the Columbus Center, for both adults and children. Classes include Hula Dance, Hawaiian Language, Judo, various types of Karate, Jazzercise, yoga, guitar lessons, Salsa, Swing, Ballroom, and Latin Dance, and more. Call the center to find out about specific offerings and to get information about how to sign up. Fees vary by class.

Summer camp opportunities are available through the Columbus Center. The week-long camps are offered from mid June through mid August. Children can choose from the following camps: Golf (ages 10-14), Jr. Jazz Basketball (ages 5-12), Volleyball (ages 10-15), Soccer (ages 5-12), Theatre (ages 8-15), and Dance (ages 8-15). The auditorium, gym, and classrooms can all be rented for special occasions, including receptions, birthday parties, family reunions, etc. The auditorium can hold 390 people. The gym has a capacity of 390 people when used for an event. Capacities of the meeting rooms vary, from 48 to 99 people. Equipment can also be rented, including TVs, VCRs, DVD players, microphones, dry erase boards, projectors, pianos, tables, table cloths, and napkins. Farmington's Community Arts Center hosts several community events throughout the year. The building houses a large 2,500 square foot main hall, a stage, a meeting area, classrooms, a kitchen, and a ceramic/pottery classroom.

A variety of classes for children (dance, music lessons, arts and crafts, performing arts/theater, painting) are offered through the fall and winter months. Details are posted on the Farmington City website.

Various areas of the building can be rented for private parties, weddings, receptions, family reunions, recitals, and corporate gatherings. The center's website has details about capacities, pricing, etc. Call to get more information or to make rental arrangements.

Dr. Miya's School of Music offers one on one music lessons in acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, and voice. The school has a goal of making musicians "band-ready" in five months. Affiliated with Kim's Academy of Tae Kwon Do, students advance through the program in a way similar to advancement through martial arts classes - step by step, earning stripes and reaching goals as they travel the path to success.

Children enrolled in guitar lessons must be at least eight years old.

The Gymboree Learning Program offers a progression of developmentally appropriate play, music, and art classes for children and their parents. Classes focus on the whole child in order to help children acquire the key ingredients - motor skills, social skills, and self-esteem - they need to grow up to be confident, happy, and successful adults. From first born to first grade, there is a program appropriate for every child.

Fees at Gymboree run $59 per month. For that price, parents/tots fully utilizing the program can fit in 12-14 visits per month, including three open gym times.

Bubble camps run during the summer months. The camps are for fully potty trained kids ages three to five.

Gymboree also offers birthday parties for kids. Parties start at $159 for enrolled members, and admit up to 20 kids (from infants to age five), each accompanied by a parent/caregiver. Gymboree parties include 90 minutes of time in the gym, a Gymboree teacher, invitations, decorations, party supplies, a gift for the birthday child, and all set-up and clean-up. Add-ons include party favor bags, food, beverages, and additional party time. Parents are welcome to bring their own food and beverages in for the party. The Hawaiian Cultural Center is a place where the native Hawaiian community can gather to share and learn about their unique culture. Everyone is welcome. The center's library has books for all ages, and the gift store carries books, handmade crafts, music, and souvenirs. The store is open Wednesdays 5:30pm to 9pm, Saturdays 10am to 3pm, and during special events at the center.

Those interested in learning a Hawaiian art can sign up for any of the center's many workshops or classes, such as hula, ukulele, Hawaiian quilting, lei-making, and ipu heke-making. A list of services, classes, workshops, and special events can be found on the center's website.

The Imagination Place at Brickyard offers Music Together programs. The classes build on a child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. Each session includes 10 weekly, 45-minute classes involving songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences, developmentally appropriate for children, and easy for parents and caregivers regardless of their own musical ability. Two CDs, an illustrated songbook, and a parent education guide are included.

Discounts are offered if enrolling more than one child from a family. Class size is limited to 12 children.

Specific Music Together programs offered at Imagination Place at Brickyard include Mixed Ages (birth through age four) and Threes & Fours (for children with experience in the program). Summer camps include Imagination Workshop (ages three and a half to ten), Musical Bridge (ages four and a half to six), and Chess (ages four and a half and up); check the website for dates and information.

The Imagination Place Store sells creative toys and musical instruments, dress up clothing, art materials, books, and CD's for all ages. Items in this shop are chosen to inspire the imagination of children. Two types of birthday parties are available. The Imagination Workshop Birthday Party is designed for ages four through ten. It is two hours long and includes workshop activities, a party favor that the kids make and take, and an Imagination Workshop T-shirt for the birthday child. Imagination Workshop parties offer the following themes to choose from: Pirate Fete, Royal Soiree, Garden Party, and Create Your Own. The motto of the International Children's Choir (ICC) is to welcome the world through song. Participants receive voice training, learning songs in many languages and styles. For performances, choir members wear authentic colorful costumes from around the world. In addition to public concerts, the choir performs for heads of state, ambassadors, and international dignitaries, and has traveled to places such as Italy, Germany, Austria, and Hungary to perform.

Each year, the ICC holds two semester-long classes and one summer camp. Semester classes focus on voice training and choir, while the summer camp allows students to explore additional areas such as folk dance, handbells, yoga, Orff instruments, art, and various cultures.
