The Children's Theatre and School of the Arts offers live drama for schools and families, based on stories from classic literature. The versions of the plays you see here are not the versions you may be familiar with, but they are especially well-suited for children.

Shows are performed Fridays at 7pm and Saturdays at 1pm and 4:30pm, with additional performances weekday mornings for elementary school groups. Performances are preceded by a short talk on theater etiquette, and the cast stays on stage after the bows to answer questions from the audience.

The Hale Centre Theatre at Harman Hall is known as Utah's premiere family theater. The rotating stage in the center of the theater, and eight rows of seating, guarantee great sight lines from just about any seat.

The Off Broadway Theatre (OBT) offers comedy theater with the whole family in mind. Babes in arms are always welcome, and shows are clean, original, silly, and interactive; audiences are encouraged to boo the villains and cheer for the heroes.

In addition to the plays, every Friday and Saturday night at 10pm, Laughing Stock, Utah's longest running improv comedy troupe can be seen at OBT. Revolve Aerial Dance is an aerial arts school offering classes, workshops, performances, and parties in aerial silks and static trapeze. The focus of this aerial dance program is to help students build character, strength and self-confidence.

The SCERA Center for the Arts was founded in 1933, and is dedicated to youth job training, the development and advancement of culture, education, recreation, and family entertainment.

The center's Xango Grand Theater features one of the largest movie screens in the state, and is Utah's only community-owned family theater; R-rated movies are never on the schedule. First Work is a unique program in which professional artists mentor young artists ages seven through 17 who want to create their own performance piece. Sunshine Generation is a national non-auditioned children's performing group, offering boys and girls opportunities to dance, sing, and perform in their local communities. It's not your typical voice, ballet, or tap classes; lessons are more on the level of musical theater dance. Performances are held at festivals, parades, fairs, and senior centers.

Enrollment in the program costs about $25-$30 per month. Parents must also purchase performance costumes for their children; each age group has it's own performance costume.

The Alice Sheets Marriott Center for Dance, at the University of Utah, is a building which houses the departments of Modern Dance and Ballet. The building contains six large studios, one small studio, three classrooms, a student lounge, dressing rooms with stage access, an audiovisual lab with computer stations and video and sound production, quick-change and physical therapy rooms, administrative and faculty offices, costume and scenery shops, and a sky deck. One of the studios can be transformed into an informal performance space.

The formal performance space is a 333-seat professional theatre. It features 14 rows of steeply raked seating to permit all audience members excellent views. The bottom row of seating can be removed to allow for an orchestra pit.

During the summer, week-long Performing Arts Camps are held at The Alice Sheets Marriott Center for Dance for kids ages five to 17.
