The Cabrillo Rec. Center offers a variety of classes for kids, children's ceramics, cooking, crafts, and hula among them. Children ages 8-14 may register here to participate in the area's Youth Flag Football program.

Summer sports camps are offered to children ages 4-14 in conjunction with Skyhawks, a national program, that offers instruction in soccer, baseball, basketball and flag football. These camps are one week in duration and are offered for half-day or whole day.

Afterschool Care: Offered before and after school from 6:30am-7:30pm. Parents can opt to sign their children up on a daily or weekly basis. Activities included in the camp are art, crafts, sports, and movies.

Captain Cook's offers cooking classes for kids using organic recipes in an eco-friendly kitchen. Birthday parties, play dates, camps, parents night out, scout badges, and field trips are also available.

The Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert offers more than 50 hands-on exhibits for children of all ages, on topics including science, art, physical education, how things work, career options, and hidden treasures.

Classes for kids are offered in art, cooking, and other subjects and special events are held throughout the year. The facility can be rented for private events. Annual museum memberships are $25 per person.

Healthy Creations is an organic meal-assembly kitchen in Encinitas. Parents and children just show up for their scheduled session, assemble the meals by following the easy directions, take the meals home, and cook them when they are ready. This way, meals are put together and on the table in minutes. The best part is that all the prep work - shopping, chopping, washing, and clean-up - is done by Healthy Creations.

Twelve different meals are planned each month, each incorporating a variety of organic ingredients - meat, poultry, wild fish, and vegetarian entrees. Kids (ages five and up) are invited to assist their parents in making the meals.

Linda Vista offers a variety of sports, arts, and recreation programs for children and families.

Outdoor facilities at Montgomery-Waller include basketball courts, multi-purpose athletic fields, and a picnic area. The recreation center features a gymnasium, kitchen, arts and crafts room, and a tiny tots room.

The "O B Rec. Center" is conveniently located in the heart of Ocean Beach, right next to the Elementary School. Youth sports classes offered there are:karate, gymnastics, basketball and there is even a youth flag football program.

Craft and cooking classes are also offered as well as a Movie Day on Thursdays.

Parents - Need some time for yourselves? How about the kids up in the Friday night Parents Night Out program? Children can participate in crafts and games and are treated to dinner and a movie. You may drop your child off at 5:30pm and pickup is 9:30pm sharp. The cost is a miniscule $5.00!

Etiquette School is available for young ladies and gentlemen ages 7-11. The class teaches proper social and development skills and is taught by Lisa Hewitt, former runway model for Calvin Klein. Classes are offered Friday evenings from 4:30-5:15pm. The fee is $40 for an 8 week session.

The Ocean Beach Rec. Center can assist in renting the following parks for sporting events, picnics, parties, and other events: Robb Kenny Field, Dana School Fields, Bob Cleator Park & Fields, Dusty Rhodes Park (limited to groups of 150 or less).

Facilities at Silver Wing Recreation Center include two multi-purpose rooms, a large sports field, and two lighted basketball courts.

The Dinner A'Fare offers creative, flavorful, and affordable meals featuring fresh produce, meats, and seasonings. In a short two hours, assemble twelve dishes with one to three, or four to six servings each. And no dirty dishes to wash! The staff takes care of this. To participate, book a session, select the entrees, then the store to assemble your entrees.

On Tuesdays, dinner is available for pickup between 5:30pm-6:30pm - and you don't have to make it. Register online, select the dinner, and pick it up. There is a $35 charge for the service.
