Facilities at the Kettering/Largo Community Center include a gymnasium, multi-purpose room, exercise/fitness room, preschool area, dance room, arts and crafts room, game room, offices, storage areas, and restrooms with showers. Recreation programs and classes in the areas of sports, arts, fitness, dance, crafts, cooking, self-improvement, drama, games, hobbies, martial arts, music, and do-it-yourself instruction are among the activities offered at the center. Little Sprouts Playtime Center is an indoor playground that offers a variety of classes (and camps) in addition to open play time. Classes include music and movement, arts and crafts, cooking, and playdough fun. Parents can drop the kids off for Mom's Morning Out or Parent's Night Out. There is also an Enchanted Princess Tea Room, where little princesses can go wild with dress up, tea time, stories, crafts, and more.

Birthday parties, with a choice of themes, can be held in the playroom, and include open play time, pizza, drinks, and more. Parties can be held in the Enchanted Princess Tea Room as well - with a bit more glitz involved! The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers a continuing program of activities for adults and children, including a wide range of classes, playgroups, lectures, study tours, camps, art exhibits, theatre performances, and specialty shows. The Center also sponsors major community activities such as McLean Day at Lewinsville Park in May and the 4th of July Fireworks at Langley High School.

Center facilities include the 424-seat Alden Theatre, the Emerson Gallery, meeting and conference rooms, the Susan B. DuVal Art Studio, and a rehearsal studio. Local open clubs and organizations use the Center for their monthly meetings without charge. Center facilities may be rented for private functions such as business conferences, receptions, parties, and recitals. District residents and businesses pay reduced fees. Registrations for MYI and Little League activities are regularly held at the Center and information on their activities is always available in the lobby.

The Center also operates the Old Firehouse Teen Center. Membership is open to seventh- and eighth-grade students living in Fairfax County, and are good for a year from the date of purchase. The benefits of an OFTC membership include the ability to "drop in" to use the Center's resources, after school or community service programs, renting the Firehouse for a party and free admission to events on select Friday nights.

Tiny Chefs offers fun, educational, and hands-on culinary classes for children ages four to 14 years old. Children learn how to follow a recipe, measure and combine ingredients, as well as collect kitchen safety tips all while preparing a delicious meal. In each class, children prepare and eat both an entree and dessert while their communication skills and ability to work within a small group setting are enhanced.

Young Chefs Academy is a cooking school created just for kids! Children learn cooking and baking techniques, proper food handling, food preparation, and presentation, kitchen safety, table setting, manners, and more. The Academy offers a variety of hands-on cooking classes, including mini-camps and field trips.

The atmosphere is kid-friendly, with colorful cabinets, counters, cutting boards, and bathrooms (to encourage cleanliness!) inviting even the youngest kids to get busy in the kitchen. Parents are welcome to stay and observe, and even taste the end product of their children's efforts.

Instructors follow concise, clever lesson plans and have to know the two C's: cooking, and children - and be good with both. During classes, kids are encouraged to ask questions, express their likes and dislikes, and get confident about cooking skills. Each session's recipes are provided to students, with places to make comments on the back (what they might change next time, how highly they rate the taste) and those who sign up for a class series get their own recipe binder, chefs hat and apron to continue their gastronomic explorations at home.

Birthday parties are one and a half hours long, and guests participate in real hands-on cooking activities. There are two birthday packages to choose from; contact the Academy to determine offerings and current pricing.

Camp-Can-I-Cook is offered every summer at select YCA locations, for young chefs ages five through 15. Mini-holiday and school break camps are also offered.
